TideTally Privacy Policy
TideTally is a fishing log and conditions reader for Texas bays, made by Gulf Breeze Apps LLC. It has no account, no login, and no server of its own. Gulf Breeze Apps LLC does not receive a copy of your log.
What stays on your phone
- Catch records: species, time, optional lure and notes, and, if you allow location, the GPS reading and its accuracy
- Photos you choose to attach
- Launch spots: name, coordinates, your wind and tide limits, and an optional pinned NOAA station
- The last Bay Check timeline for each spot, for offline viewing
- A list of Texas NOAA tide stations
- Settings, including the morning reminder time
What leaves your phone
TideTally contacts only two U.S. government services and refuses any other host, including redirects elsewhere:
- National Weather Service (
api.weather.gov). To fill weather for a catch or build a Bay Check timeline, TideTally sends your latitude and longitude rounded to two decimal places (about 1 km). Follow-up requests (forecast wind, nearby observation stations, and observations around the catch time) send only a station or forecast-grid id and a time window, not your coordinates. - NOAA CO-OPS (
api.tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov). Tide requests send a tide station id (chosen on your phone), a time window, data options, and the app name. Refreshing the station list sends no coordinates or catch data.
Requests identify the app as TideTally by Gulf Breeze Apps LLC. Like any internet request, these services can see your device’s IP address and the request contents, and may keep server logs under their own policies (see weather.gov/privacy and NOAA’s privacy policy). Gulf Breeze Apps LLC does not receive or control those logs.
Opening the NWS marine forecast link opens weather.gov in your browser with the same rounded coordinates.
Never sent: species, lure, notes, photos, spot names, limits, or your full GPS reading. Nothing is sent to Gulf Breeze Apps LLC.
Permissions
- Location (while using the app): to tag a catch or save a launch spot. No background location. You can deny it and still log catches; readings will be blank.
- Camera: only when you photograph a catch.
- Photos: the system photo picker; TideTally cannot browse your whole library.
- Notifications: only if you turn on the morning reminder. It is scheduled on your phone; there is no push server.
Tracking, ads, analytics
None. TideTally has no advertising, analytics, or tracking code and does not track you across apps or websites.
Deleting your data
All data is on your phone. Delete individual catches or spots in the app, or uninstall TideTally to remove everything. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.
Children
TideTally is a general-audience fishing tool, not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect children’s information.
Data sources
Tide data: NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services. Weather data: National Weather Service. TideTally is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA or NWS.
